Hydrating for Optimal Lacrosse Performance

-July 24th, 2019-

By now I’m sure everyone is aware of the importance of being properly hydrated for lacrosse games, practices, and workouts.

What isn’t as widely known though is that not all hydration sources are equal. I recently gave another talk to young athletes at the Toronto Rock Summer Lacrosse Camp (see http://www.thedynamicathlete.ca/dont-put-dirt-in-a-lamborghini-sugar-is-bad/) and once again Gatorade/Powerade were thought to be good options for athletes by the majority of the kids at the camp.

After explaining how they are way too sugary and that water is a much better choice, one informed youngster asked about electrolytes. And he’s right.

If you are a very high level player, or playing in a tournament or extremely hot weather, water alone might not be enough. And in perfect timing the next day I saw an article on US Lacrosse Magazine about how hydration helped them win the World Championship in Israel last year.

They used Motive Pure, which has electrolytes but is zero calories. A much better choice than sugar options. It helps it’s founded by Jesse Hubbard, a National Lacrosse League Hall of Famer.

Here is a link to the FULL ARTICLE so give it a read and remember, you don’t put dirt in a lamborghini!
